Healthy Hair = Shiny Hair
What you wash your hair with is much more important than you think. On a cellular level our hair is made of the same components as our skin…so if we will buy a $75 moisturizer and not bat an eye why do we cringe at the thought of a $40 bottle of conditioner? I’ve said it a million times, when your hair is wet it is at its most vulnerable state. It also requires products with a molecular make up that can penetrate the cuticle bypassing the larger hydrogen molecules sitting on the outside (water). Your shampoo + conditioner are the foundational pieces to your hair’s overall health. Most OTC hair products are loaded in silicones which coat the outside of the hair- thus trapping the hydrogen molecules and make a saran wrap like shield over the cuticle. Meaning over time and habitual use nothing will be able to enter or leave. At that time the hair feels flat, dull, dry, and affects the outcomes of color and other chemical hair services.
Your hair is just as unique as your fingerprint. So to try and lump everyone into 3 or 4 categories can be frustrating! What is also frustrating is that clients will trust an influencer and a IG home hair service more than their professional stylist when it comes to products. I have no biasness when it comes to products, and it is my passion to lead with knowledge and understanding of hair. I am here to GUIDE you- I am only here to give you the best hair of your life.
Myth 1: it only matters what conditioner and after the shower products I use.
wrong! - the shampoo is what is the initial force that delivers the vitamins and cleanses the hair preferably without sulfates or harsh soaps. It preps the cuticle for the other nutrients the conditioner provide. If skin soaps can strip the barrier of the skin the same goes for harsh cleansing agents in OTC shampoos.
Myth 2: as long as I have a good serum and leave in it doesnt matter how I condition my hair.
wrong! - the conditioner is what is the sealant - anything after is just an addition like a peptide serum or corrective face cream.
Just as your products are important so is the WATER! No, Im not saying you need to wash your hair with Fiji Water- but the water temperature and mineralization of the water is something to consider.
I hope this helps to add some shine to your hair’s life!
